There’s a park, in one of my stories, where time stretches the way it does during reading. That’s where I’d like to sit, on that bench, to listen to the world, or simply to myself. A habit that, caught up as we all are in countless demands, most of us have forgotten.

I'm L. K. Aerden, author of dark fantasy and mystery. The Shadows of Áetheria, my first novel, was born fifteen years ago in the silence of sleepless nights, first on a computer, but the weight and noise of the keys took away the pleasure of letting my mind wander to faraway places. So I set the computer aside and began writing in old notebooks, in pencil. That's where the journeys through the Scottish moors began, moors that have always lived in my imagination.
The Midnight Girl came shortly after, different in atmosphere, different in narrative style, but with the same soul.

Finding those old notebooks again after so many years felt like rediscovering a part of myself I had set aside. Rereading those pages, those lines, those stories, made me realize it was time for them to find new homes and new readers.

I firmly believe that stories aren't just entertainment, but living architectures: when I write, I'm not just inventing, I'm shaping the perception of what's real. That's why in my novels you won't find perfect heroes or absolute villains, only deeply human characters, wrestling with their own secrets and weaknesses, just like all of us.

Behind L. K. Aerden there's a life made of many other things, but here, I've chosen to be only this: the voice behind two novels, different from one another, yet intimately connected. My pen name isn't a hiding place, it's a chosen, protected space, where stories can speak without anything conditioning them.

When I'm not writing, I often find myself imagining that bench in the park, wondering which of my readers will choose to sit there with me.
